On a day towards the end of 2022, a successful community service program was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Vili Gamage, the District Medical Officer of Health for the Southern Province, at the district office in Imaduwa, Galle. This event was aimed at providing essential services to elderly persons in the community, ensuring their well-being and integrating them into society with dignity. Notably, the initiative focused on facilitating access to healthcare, especially for vulnerable and marginalized elders, fostering their inclusion and addressing their specific needs comprehensively. Furthermore, in 2022, a total of 146 elderly individuals from Galle, Matara, and Hambantota districts benefited from this initiative, amounting to a total expenditure of approximately LKR 1,752,000. This community service effort was pivotal in providing necessary support to elderly individuals, enhancing their quality of life, and promoting their well-being. This initiative, conducted under the guidance of Dr. Vili Gamage, District Medical Officer of Health for the Southern Province, exemplifies a proactive approach towards community welfare, reflecting a commitment to addressing the healthcare needs of vulnerable populations.
